Inter IKEA Group has partnered with UNICEF to support recovery efforts for children and families affected by Typhoon Yagi, which struck northern Viet Nam in September 2024. This collaboration provides critical funding to help communities rebuild and access essential services including healthcare, nutrition, education, and psychosocial support, to those most in need following the aftermath of one of the most devastating storms in recent years.

Rebuilding lives after Typhoon Yagi

Typhoon Yagi’s aftermath resulted in significant displacement, destroyed numerous homes, and disrupted access to critical services. While immediate disaster responses have helped stabilize affected areas, the long-term recovery process demands continued support to rebuild homes, restore livelihoods, and ensure access to essential resources such as clean water, education, protection, and healthcare.

UNICEF has been at the forefront of relief efforts, working with Government of Viet Nam and various partners to provide emergency aid and support sustainable recovery. However, rebuilding communities and fostering resilience require collective action and sustained attention.

The significance of partnerships in relief efforts

The involvement of corporations such as Inter IKEA Group is critical in extending the reach and impact of relief efforts. While the immediate aftermath of Typhoon Yagi has passed, the road to recovery for affected communities will be long and challenging. UNICEF calls for more private sector partners, donors, and individuals to join hands in this crucial recovery phase, as every contribution brings hope and accelerates the path toward resilience and stability for the children and families in need. United, we can ensure that no one is left behind.

A shared vision for a brighter future

The partnership reflects a mutual commitment to building a future where every child is safe and supported. “Thanks to Inter IKEA Group, we can extend our reach to more children and communities in need, providing health care, nutrition, education, and psychosocial support to those affected by the typhoon. We look forward to deepening our partnership and creating a lasting, positive impact for children in Viet Nam”, said Silvia Danailov, UNICEF Representative in Viet Nam.
