The solutions must use blockchain technology and contribute to creating a more inclusive, safe and child- and youth-friendly environment in Ukrainian cities and communities.

The participants will deepen their knowledge of blockchain while working under the guidance of experienced national experts.

This initiative is being implemented by UNICEF Ukraine in partnership with the UNICEF Innovation Foundation, with support from Lviv municipality.

Why is it necessary

With the decentralization reform, communities are getting more opportunities. However, youth problems often continue not to be prioritized by local authorities. Therefore, the participation of young people themselves in decision-making and influencing the future of their communities needs to increase. This requires the introduction of unconventional and innovative solutions, which the hackathon will seek to create. Potential thematic areas for the hackathon include:

  • Developing mechanisms to combine the Internet of Things and public health institutions to monitor young people's health;
  • Developing educational solutions, in particular, oversight over the school performance of children and youth;
  • Developing solutions for environmental protection;
  • Developing solutions for providing social services, making them more accessible and developing a package of public services for children and youth.
  • Developing mechanisms to attract and encourage young people to actively participate in community life.

What we can offer?

  • two days of active work, Bloqly Blockchain coding and learning
  • networking and consultations with mentors and blockchain professionals
  • the best ideas can be supported by UNICEF Office of Innovation.
