Young people come together to boost local communities

The social innovation programme known as UPSHIFT came to Ukraine’s Lvivska region in April 2023. Since then, 155 young people, including 45 boys and 110 girls, have attended special training sessions where, with the support of individual experienced mentors, they developed 35 projects to better their communities. Over the course of three months,…, “Young people have a lot of energy”, Sixteen-year-old Anna was amongst those taking part in the programme, run by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). She and her team wanted  to activate peers and create a caring people community. The upshifters organized training and workshop sessions on team building, communication, marketing and financial literacy.   “‘Informal education…, “Every young person can influence his community”, Oksana, Victoriia, Andrii, Anna, and Ivan are geography students. They joined UPSHIFT to share their passion with others and to engage young people in urban development.
