Evidence-based analysis of psychosocial adaptability of adolescents in the conflict zone and the role of the education system as a protective environment

Highlights

The purpose of this study was to investigate as much as possible the challenges and threats faced by adolescents in the area of ​​the military conflict in eastern Ukraine, and thus engage in informing the development of relevant policies and programs, in particular the current education reform and the concept of " New Ukrainian School ". To this end, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Program and the International Organization for Migration, with the support of the United Nations Coordination Office, together with the Center for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development (SeeD) carried out a large-scale quantitative study with a total sample of 3,331 adolescents from 48 educational institutions in the Donetsk-based and Lugansk regions under the control of the Ukrainian government.
