The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) together with the Ministry of Education and Science  of Ukraine is launching an information campaign ‘School, we are ready’. The campaign aims to  inform teachers and school administration, students and parents about the rules and conditions of safe learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic in the school year 2020/2021. Besides, it intends to motivate teachers, parents and students to use the best practices of safe education in the new reality.

"It is our shared responsibility to make this school year efficient and safe for the health of students, parents, teachers and school principals. To do this, together with our UNICEF partners, we are launching the ‘School, We Are Ready’ campaign, which aims to describe in simple terms the rules and conditions of the educational process during a pandemic that will help maintain good health. We are grateful to UNICEF for supporting Ukrainian education during this challenging time," said Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Lubomyra Mandziy.

As part of the information campaign, materials have been shaped to help school principals, teachers, parents and students prepare for work and study in the new environment. All detailed information and materials are available at mon-covid19.info/schools.

Printed posters with the rules of respiratory hygiene, recommendations on safe learning conditions and peculiarities of different learning formats will be distributed among schools, and electronic versions will be available for download at mon-covid19.info/schools.

"We are pleased to support the Government of Ukraine and join in creating safe conditions in schools. The return to school this year will be different than before. School is not just lessons, it is a space where children can get the nutrition, psychological support and communication needed for their development. During the pandemic, students, teachers and school principals must be in a safe environment during the school year," said Lotta Sylwander, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine.

The ‘School, We Are Ready’ campaign encompasses plans and additional materials for the first lesson of the 2020/2021 school year, which is recommended to be dedicated to the rules of safe learning during the quarantine.

Materials for grades 1-4 are available to download at this link and for 5-11 grades – at this link. The MoES recommends using these training materials during the first lesson on COVID-19.

The ‘School, We Are Ready’ campaign is being implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science in cooperation with UNICEF with the support of USAID and a non-profit public organization Osvitoria.
