Pandora donates USD 1 million to UNICEF's response in Ukraine
27 February 2022

GENEVA/COPENHAGEN, 27 February 2022 - Jewellery brand Pandora has reacted quickly to the conflict in Ukraine and donated USD 1 million to UNICEF's efforts to help children affected by the humanitarian crisis.
The donation comes a day after UNICEF estimated USD 66.4 million is required to meet the needs of up to 7.5 million children in Ukraine.
"Pandora’s donation is not only timely but also significant in size,” says Carla Haddad Mardini, UNICEF’s Director for Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division. “When partners, like Pandora, respond quickly to our humanitarian appeal, it helps us to act swiftly and provide assistance for those that need it most. In crises, timing is everything,” she adds.
Pandora has been a close ally of UNICEF Denmark since 2019 and is a valued partner to the organization’s work with children around the globe. The developments in Ukraine, however, prompted an immediate response.
“We wish to help the children of Ukraine and their families in this terrible conflict. They need shelter, water, food, medicine, safe zones, and other support to live through the crisis. UNICEF's work is critical and desperately needed,” says Alexander Lacik, CEO, Pandora.
UNICEF's efforts in Ukraine are currently focused on providing access to basic services including clean water, hygiene supplies, healthcare, access to education, psychosocial support and emergency cash assistance.
