#Spilno Project Organizes Online Training for almost 2,000 Social Workers
For nine months, social workers were learning about how to build effective mechanisms for providing social services in their communities with experts from the “SPILNO. Social services for families in communities” project.
The training was primarily conducted for representatives of 12 communities in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, which are participating in the #Spilno project, initiated and implemented by UNICEF with financial support from the Government of Germany and the German Development Bank (KfW). However, webinars were available to anyone. As a result, almost 2,000 participants from all over Ukraine joined the online webinars during the training.
The webinars were conducted by “Partnership for Every Child”, the charitable organization that is implementing the project in Bakhmutska, Troitska and Bilokurakynska communities in eastern Ukraine. They have covered implementation of child rights in the community, the specifics of the work of social service centres, the role of social workers, prevention of and response to domestic violence, protection of children's rights, social services for children with disabilities, cooperation between different institutions and more.
The “Homecoming” webinar, facilitated by “SOS Kinderdorf International”, on the reintegration of children from boarding schools into their biological families became particularly meaningful and relevant in the context of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The speakers in the training included representatives of the Ministry of Social Policy, international and Ukrainian experts on social work, prevention and responding to domestic violence, social educators and experts at the #Spilno project.
The webinar participants are already applying the knowledge they have gained during the training to their work. They are also working to improve the quality of social services for families with children in need.
