Children and parents learn about immunization from a children's story developed by UNICEF
On 20-26 April Turkmenistan marks the European Immunization Week.
To mark the European Immunization Week UNICEF and its partner, the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography have reproduced an audio version of a children's story on immunization and made it available to children and parents through radio. The story called "Medine's Birthday" is about a little girl Medine who receives birthday gifts, toys and decides to immunize them. She recalls the times when she was immunized and says that it is good for health and development. We invite you to listen to the story in Turkmen.
Along with the story, the radio listeners, primarily parents, will be able to listen to the mini parenting class on vaccination. Turkmenistan expert in early childhood development Sulgun Berdiyeva replies to some critical questions on the importance of vaccination.
Turkmenistan sustains the universal immunization coverage and fully finances its vaccination programme. Procured through UNICEF, vaccines protect children from 14 vaccine-preventable diseases.
