The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the learning and overall well-being of nearly 19 million children, including nearly 760,000 refugees, and more than 1 million teachers. Face-to-face learning was largely suspended for nearly one year between March 2020 and June 2021. This has had the most severe effects on children and families in the poorest communities and refugee children, children in institutional care and children with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

We are supporting MoNE in identifying creative ways to reach vulnerable children through digital and flexible solutions. For example, our Reimagine Education programming has helped teachers to provide distance learning, supported the creation of online content and equipped children with digital and second-decade skills.

We are working with MoNE to introduce a new programme to identify and address learning loss as a result of the pandemic.
