Supporting young people to be climate and environmental champions through education, green skills development and engagement in policy helps to secure the rights of children and builds the resilience of communities.
Children are the least responsible for climate change and environmental degradation, yet most adversely affected by its impact, including physical vulnerability and an increased risk of death.
UNICEF and its partners are working with the Government of Turkiye Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change as well as civil society organizations and youth associations to support the engagement of young people (including the Youth Climate Envoys) in climate policy dialogue.
Their aim is to enable young people’s voices to be heard in their communities and with key decision makers. They want to support young people who are leading the way in mobilizing, and demanding, urgent climate action.
