Incidence of violence in schools is becoming increasingly problematic around the world. Aiming to eliminate the problem in Turkey, the Ministry of National Education (MONE) hosted the First Symposium on Violence in Schools this Spring with UNICEF support.

The findings of the Symposium have been contributed to the United Nations General-Secretary’s Study on Violence Against Children. Read more about the Study and the Council of Europe’s Programme to End Violence Against Children.

UNICEF’s new Country Programme (CPAP) agreement with Turkey for 2006-2010 has been approved and signed. The new CPAP aims to improve child health, education and protection for areas with low development indicators and families living on low income in urban and rural areas.
