Hi! My name is Worrawantra Nuam-in or Amm, a Young People Action’s Team member from Thailand. I embark on my journey to climate actions from my human rights advocacy.
I am also a part of the Young People Advisory Board of UNICEF Thailand office, raising voices for national and international frameworks as well as representing Thai youths in terms of combating Violence against Children. More, as drawing is the ultimate answer to what I spend my free time for, I have designed and created visual communications, artworks and graphic designs, to a number of youth-led and nonprofit organizations relating to children's rights.
Yes, my main advocacy seems to be in the different realm of climate actions, but let me tell you how I connect the two realms.
Participating in the launch of 'Impact Assessment of Climate Change and Environmental Degradation on Children in Thailand’ by UNICEF Thailand and Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, I have realized that children, especially those in marginalized groups, are more vulnerable to natural disasters, impacts of climate change, and even environmental policies. I also believe that climate issues significantly and indirectly affect the wellbeing of children, such as residences and shelters, acute poverty, interrupted process of children’s education, violences and sexual exploitation, and more.
Let’s talk about my recent involvement in climate actions. As a MP player of Simulation Parliament by Chulalongkorn University, I have got an opportunity to explore governmental decision making mechanisms and political insights regarding environment policies. I was a part of the mock Committee on Environment at that time.
I think the climate report where I shared my opinions as a YPAT youth who works on children’s rights protection is inclusive because it integrates all children-related anecdotes and, most importantly, children’s voices.
