BANGKOK, 13 November 2018 – As part of its 70 years’ celebrations in Thailand, UNICEF launched a new variety television show “the Blue Carpet Show for UNICEF” in Bangkok. A “first of its kind” in Thailand, the television show aims to raise awareness on children’s issues, and to mobilize public support for vulnerable children in Thailand and across the world.

The show, which will go live on Channel 7HD on Sunday, 16 December 2018 at 18.20-20.00 hrs., will bring leading local and international celebrities and artists together on one platform with one voice to make a difference in the lives of children. This project is part of UNICEF’s Global initiative, which has been very successful in many countries such as Sweden and Argentina.
“I’m here to speak on behalf of children, telling their stories to people of Thailand and across the world,” said Siwon Choi, Special Representative for UNICEF Korea at a press conference in Bangkok on Monday led by Anand Panyarachun, Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF Thailand. “I have learnt a lot about the challenges children face - poverty, inequality and their difficulties in accessing basic services. Many children do not always have a chance to speak out and let others know what they are going through.”
Six short films portraying children’s issues such as children with disabilities, child poverty and child survival in Thailand, Kenya and India will be released for the first time on this live TV show. The short films feature celebrities on special missions including Siwon, Nichkhun Horvejkul, Friend of UNICEF, Min-Pechaya Wattanamontri, Peck-Palitchoke Ayanuputra, TuiTui-Puttachat Pongsuchat as well as Anand Panyarachun.
“People from all sectors, especially Channel 7HD, leading artists and partners, have come together to support this special event,” said Dawn Gosling, Officer in Charge, UNICEF Thailand. “We are calling on the Thai public to join us in making a difference in children’s lives. The show will be just another entertainment show without your support.”
The ‘Blue Carpet Show for UNICEF’, will be hosted by two leading emcees, Niti “Pompam” Chaichitathorn and Puttachat “Tui Tui” Pongsuchat, with special stage performances and the blue carpet walk by many celebrities such as Siwon, Nichkhun, Min-Pechaya, Peck-Palitchoke, BNK48 Da-Endorphine.
