Scale Up Early Childhood Education for Sustainable Development
The fifth regional consultation meeting took place in Dushanbe
December 12th, Dushanbe. The fifth regional consultation meeting on the “Scale Up Early Childhood Education for Sustainable Development” was conducted jointly by UNICEF and the Ministry of Education and Science.
Total 55 participants representing national and sub-national education stakeholders, including local governments, education administrators and practitioners, community members, caregivers, CSOs, private sector and media from Districts of Republican Subordination and Dushanbe took part in the transparent and constructive dialogue on challenges and opportunities in expansion equitable access and improving quality of early childhood education service provision in Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the expert team covered range of topics related to ECE regulatory framework, curriculum, governance and financing, engagement of private sector, teaching and learning materials, child assessment, parental engagement, local budgets with focus on equity, efficiency and learning outcomes. Participants also discussed the short-term and long-term priority objectives to scale up early childhood education (ECE) / preschool education services, especially for the most marginalized and deprived children across the country.
Previous meetings included site visits to ECE settings, advocacy meetings with sub-national level decision makers and community members. Summary of the findings and recommendations collected during all five meetings will be presented to high-level education authorities and international development partners to synergize the focus around ECE agenda for better access, quality, financing, governance in ECE in Tajikistan.
