UNICEF with WHO starts awareness campaign in northeast camp about COVID-19
Thanks to a generous contribution from Sweden.
Parallel to the rollout of COVID-19 vaccine, UNICEF, in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), has supported demand generation with a risk communication and community engagement campaign in Tal Alsamen displacement camp, northeast Syria, with thanks to a generous contribution from Sweden. The camp, located 30 kilometers north of Ar-Raqqa city, is currently home to 5,900 people who fled violence escalations in Tal Abyad, north Syria, in late 2019.
This campaign aimed at raising community awareness about the importance of COVID-19 vaccine, disseminating information about the availability of the second dose to priority groups who have taken the first, and encouraging others, who have not, to take the vaccine. As part of the campaign, UNICEF met with community leaders and volunteers, conducting tent-to-tent visits to spread awareness. Posters, flyers and awareness print material were also distributed across the camp.
