Mental health and psychosocial support national manual

Emotional, psychological, and social well-being for every child

Highlights

The Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) national manual proposes a MHPSS programme in the context of emergency and recovery, targeting children, parents, and caregivers. It aims at implementing swift interventions to help children and their caregivers identify difficult experiences to which they are exposed and learn how to build their resilience to reach better psychosocial wellbeing. The development of this manual was jointly led by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour (MoSAL), Syrian Commission for Family Affairs and Population (SCFAP) and UNICEF Syria, between 2018 and 2021.

This facilitators’ training guide provides participants with foundations, approaches, and activities associated with psychosocial support, as well as acquiring the skills required to train other people in this field.

A monitoring and evaluation package has been developed according to the programmes’ objectives, components, and age groups. It includes pre-post surveys, focus group discussions and a supervision tool.
