Reference notes for new COVID-19 diagnostics

New molecular diagnostic tests to diagnose COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection have been added to UNICEF Supply Catalogue.

New molecular tests for COVID-19 diagnosis have been added to UNICEF diagnostics portfolio and are now available for UNICEF programme countries and procurement services partners in addition to automated real-time PCR tests. Like all COVID-19 diagnostics procured by Supply Division, new products are quality-assured, i.e. either listed under the WHO Emergency Use List (EUL) or holding the FDA Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).

The new molecular tests for COVID-19 diagnosis are compatible with some of the most popular types of PCR platforms that are widely available in the supported countries. Importantly, the new COVID-19 diagnostics are available with very short FCA lead times – some within 1 week only – which is critical for countries struggling with COVID-19 supply shortages and interruptions.

Product reference notes for all new COVID-19 diagnostics are available and useful for evaluators and decision-makers. The notes include comprehensive technical and commercial information, such as kit contents, compatible extraction kits, PCR equipment and software, as well as price and indicative lead time.
