Haiti - Hurricane Matthew

100 tonnes of critical emergency supplies arrive in Haiti on UPS Foundation donated flight

On 19 October, 100 tonnes of water purification tablets, ORS, cholera kits, medical equipment, medicines and education supplies being loaded on a UPS Foundation donated flight to Haiti.

Copenhagen - 19 October: As part of UNICEF’s continued response in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew 100 tonnes of emergency supplies left UNICEF’s Global Supply Warehouse in Copenhagen on 18 October.

These critical supplies were delivered on a UPS Foundation donated flight that arrived in Port-au-Prince on 20 October for distribution to affected children and families.

Supplies included 600,000 packs of water purification tablets (30 million tablets); 1 million sachets of Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) – for the treatment of dehydration in children due to acute diarrhea; diarrhoeal kits to fight against cholera; midwifery kits – each with enough equipment for 50 safe deliveries, and education supplies, including 200 school-in-a-box kits, each with enough supplies for 40 students.
