Meningitis Meningococcal Vaccines Supply and Demand Update

Meningococcal meningitis is a serious bacterial infection associated with a high fatality of up to 50 per cent if untreated. UNICEF provides new information on meningococcal meningitis vaccines, including demand and supply availability. Whereas supply for meningococcal meningitis A conjugate vaccines are sufficient to meet demand, the supply of meningococcal meningitis C- and W-containing vaccines for the emergency stockpile is constrained. UNICEF seeks access to quality assured, affordable vaccines to support emergency outbreak response activities and requirements for travelers.
