RUTF pre-bid conferences

Pre-tender Consultation with RUTF Manufacturers in Copenhagen on Wednesday 1 July and Thursday 2 July 2015

UNICEF Supply Division hosted a LNS Industry Consultation and Pre-bid Conference with RUTF Manufacturers in Copenhagen on 1 and 2 July 2015.

This was a consultative meeting with manufacturers of Ready-to-use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), as well as other partners involved in RUTF purchases. The meeting included presentations on UNICEF Strategy for expansion of Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), Evaluation of 2013 tender objectives, Outline of upcoming bidding exercise, Common RUTF specifications and labeling requirements as well as issues related to Quality Assurance of RUTF manufacturing process.

UNICEF highlighted its strategic objective to source 50% of RUTF needs from manufacturers locate in programmatic countries by 2017.

Upcoming bidding exercise's will cover one year supply period (year 2015) with forecasted 35,000 MT of RUTF.

The Consultation was attended by representatives of 25 manufacturers. Beside RUTF manufacturers invited partners included staff from the World Food Program (WFP), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and USAID.
