Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV)

UNICEF provides a new supply update on oral polio vaccine (OPV) to help inform planning for the necessary switch from trivalent OPV to bivalent OPV, confirmed by WHO's Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) in April 2016.  UNICEF anticipates bOPV supply availability to be sufficient to meet all routine and supplementary immunization needs. UNICEF strongly advises countries to submit requests for bOPV as soon as possible, and to ensure funds are available at UNICEF by latest 11th January 2016, to enable timely procurement and delivery of vaccines for in-country distribution. UNICEF encourages countries to authorise the use of bOPV vaccines based on WHO prequalification to avoid delays in delivery, and to advise UNICEF urgently if additional tOPV is required
