©UNICEF Uganda/2007/ Hyun A child holds antiretroviral medicines obtained at the Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s HIV/AIDS Clinic in Lira Town, Uganda.

This overview has been prepared following consultations with international suppliers to UNICEF on making pricing information more transparent. The ARV prices obtained by UNICEF are based on UNICEF’s mandate, UNICEF aggregated quantities, commercial terms, reliability of forecasts, timelines of payment, and a long-standing relationship with the industry. The prices listed are long-term arrangement ceiling price on FCA incoterms. The indicated prices apply to generic accessible countries without patent restrictions.

UNICEF supports paediatric HIV management services, and advocates for novel point-of-care (PoC) technologies for early infant diagnostics (EIDs), the development of child-adapted ARV formulations, coordinated procurement, strategically managed demand, and efforts to reduce a fragmented paediatric ARV market to ensure commodity security.
