Annual report 2019
This report provides a comprehensive overview of UNICEF Sudan’s humanitarian activities and results in 2019.
As Sudan continues to undergo political transition, the country is facing a complex and protracted humanitarian situation characterised by conflict-related displacement, flooding, epidemics, malnutrition, food insecurity, and a deteriorating economy. By the end of 2019, 1.8 million people were displaced; and Sudan was hosting the fourth highest number of refugees and asylum seekers in the world - over one million people.
Despite the challenging operational environment, UNICEF delivered lifesaving social and protection services to the most vulnerable crisis-affected children and their communities.
