A hardworking and motivated individual with a great passion for engineering, technology, and activism, Menuri is a champion. An indomitable Chess Player, Menuri has participated in several games and emerged victorious.

Her achievements in the game of Chess, include:

  • Youngest Women Fide Master (Title given by the World Chess Federation in Sri Lanka)
  • Young Sportswoman of the Year- New Generation Awards 2021
  • Youngest Women Candidate Master (Title given by the World Chess Federation) until 2015.
  • Won All 3 Gold Medals in West Asia Chess Championship 2016, UAE
  • Bronze at Asian School Chess Championship 2013
  • Bronze at Commonwealth Chess championship 2016
  • Wycherley International School Colors for Chess 2021/2022
  • 5th Place Pattaya Open Amateur Chess Championship 2018, Thailand
  • Champion (under 16) of Pattaya Open Amateur Chess Championship 2018, Thailand
  • 3rd equal at Asian Schools Chess Championship 2014, Taiwan
  • 3rd equal at Asian Schools Chess Championship 2015, Singapore

Menuri is not only a champion for chess but also for child rights, both in her sports role and beyond. In championing child rights, she has recently worked closely with UNICEF. These include:

  • Member of UNICEF South Asia Youth Content Creator Lab.
  • Content creator on nutrition, the economic crisis, and children of Sri Lanka
  • Content creator on mental health, climate change, SDGs, Disability in Sri Lanka
  • ‘Take over’ as Representative of UNICEF Sri Lanka during WCD 2021
  • Youth Author for UNICEF@75 in the South Asia region
