Little Amaya Lights the Way:
A World Children’s Day Celebration of Art, Imagination and Child Rights
World Children’s Day 2025 marks a vibrant new chapter in UNICEF Sri Lanka’s effort to amplify children’s voices, with the opening of the “Little Amaya – See Me, Hear Me” experience at the Lotus Tower. This year, the celebration brings together two powerful elements: Sri Lanka’s first immersive digital child-rights adventure and a national child art exhibition.
The art exhibit showcases nearly 200 artworks created by children from every corner of the country - children with different experiences, abilities, languages and dreams. Each canvas, scribble, splash of colour and story reflects something fundamental: a child’s right to express themselves freely and fearlessly. The exhibition honours the children’s right to participation, reminding us that when children are heard, truly heard, they can shape communities, and the world around them.
Adding a groundbreaking layer to this celebration is the Pixel Bloom’s immersive digital experience, where Amaya’s story unfolds across towering screens that surround visitors in colour, sound and motion. In this animated world, Amaya and her playful companions, Susie, Louie and Rosie will come to life, guiding visitors through key questions about child rights: Why do these rights exist? What do they mean? How do they protect children?
Through engaging dialogue, songs, movements and interactive visuals, children and adults are invited to think, reflect, and reconnect with rights in a way that feels personal, meaningful and unforgettable.
To make Amaya’s journey accessible to all young readers across Sri Lanka, UNICEF is also launching free downloadable versions of Amaya’s Story in Sinhala and Tamil.
This World Children’s Day, we invite everyone to step inside, listen deeply, and celebrate the power of children’s voices.
