Nodira lives in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan. She was born with spina bifida, a neural defect that occurs when the spinal column doesn't close completely during fetal development. As a result, Nodira is paralyzed from the waist down. Her life is confined to a wheelchair, her world restricted to her house and its immediate surroundings. And yet, Nodira's dreams know no such boundaries. Her hopes for the future include attending university, riding in her father's car and being able to walk like other children. But, for now, her dreams are hemmed in by the reality of living with a disability.
