Budget allocation and spending on children in South Africa
Highlights
UNICEF South Africa produces an annual Budget Brief series in sectors that have a direct bearing on the well-being of children.
These Briefs analyse the composition and allocation of sector budgets while describing how proposed allocations and past spending are likely to affect the realisation of children’s socio-economic rights.
For 2021, the Budget Briefs had a special focus on equity for children in the social service budgets. In addition to the Budget Brief, a completed Policy Brief on ‘Fiscal Space for Children’ is also available.
