UNICEF mitigates spread of COVID-19 and responds to floods
UNICEF and partners have reached nearly 900,000 people with clean water and critical hygiene supplies.
27 May 2020 - Children are very vulnerable in times of emergency. UNICEF Somalia is working closely with local authorities and partners to determine and meet the needs of children and their families affected by the recent flooding in the country. To respond the floods as well as mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the organization has scaled up its response. This includes providing clean and safe water to vulnerable communities in need and distributing basic hygiene kits (including soap, disinfectants, buckets and jerry cans) to empower and enable the displaced families to cope and protect themselves.
The unwavering support from key donors - OFDA, DFID, ECHO, UN CERF and Canada Global Affairs - made this possible.
