More children suffer malnutrition in drought-hit Somalia

3 July 2017 - UNICEF Somalia has treated some 95,000 children with life-threatening severe malnutrition resulting from the devastating drought which spread throughout the country. Severely malnourished children are nine times more likely to die from killer diseases such as cholera and measles which are also on the rise. It is expected that 277,000 children in Somalia will suffer from severe acute malnutrition this year but many lives will be saved thanks to funding from UKAID and the European Union.
