UNICEF expresses its sincere gratitude to the Government of Serbia for the donation of 1.5 million Euros for the emergency response to needs of children and families from Ukraine. The funds received today will ensure that help reaches those most in need in Ukraine and surrounding countries.
The war in Ukraine has caused mass displacement with possible lasting consequences for generations to come - almost two out of every three Ukrainian children have been displaced by fighting. Three months into the war, three million children inside Ukraine and over 2.2 million children in refugee-hosting countries need humanitarian assistance. Children are suffering, being wounded and traumatized by the violence surrounding them. Many have seen things no child should ever see, have lost their families, their homes, their schools - the world as they know it.
UNICEF and partners on the ground are working around the clock to provide support for those in need, reaching vulnerable children and families with essential services – including health, education, and protection.
