Belgrade, 12 July 2017 – Vojvodjanska Bank has become a member of the Friends of UNICEF Club, thus launching the strategic cooperation between UNICEF in Serbia and the Vojvodjanska Bank.
The partnership was marked by a joint visit by Michel Saint-Lot, UNICEF Representative in Serbia and Marinos Vathis, President of the Executive Board of the Vojvodjanska Bank, to the Novi Sad Primary Health Center and the SOS Children's Village in Sremska Kamenica, both supported by UNICEF.
As part of this cooperation, the Vojvodjanska Bank has enabled its clients to become UNICEF regular donors and to join the Friends of UNICEF Club, which has over 8,000 members.
Account holders in Vojvodjanska Bank can sign a standing order in favour of UNICEF, to direct desired funds each month to support programmes implemented by UNICEF in Serbia. Activating this service is free of charge and is available both in bank branches and in shopping centres in which UNICEF representatives are located.
"I am happy to see that our partners, such as Vojvodjanska Bank, are joining our Friends of UNICEF Club. Only united can we enact change; change that is necessary to secure the best start in life for each and every child, to ensure that each and every child has access to quality inclusive education, and that each and every child grows up in a safe and stimulating family environment. The business sector, public sector and committed individuals who recognise the importance of investment in the most precious capital of this country – our children - are key to allowing these changes to happen.
I thank Vojvodjanska Bank for joining the Friends of UNICEF Club by becoming UNICEF’s monthly donor and supporting our work in Serbia. The Vojvodjanska Bank has also facilitated flexible banking services which will enable the bank’s customers to join this community of responsible citizens who care for each and every child in Serbia”, said Michel Saint-Lot, UNICEF Representative in Serbia.
The President of the Executive Board of Vojvodjanska Bank, Marinos Vathis, expressed great satisfaction at the beginning of this cooperation with UNICEF. He emphasized that these two institutions are connected by their long traditions, commitment to achieving long-term goals, and by a strong principle of sustainability that they apply in everyday business.
The Friends of UNICEF Club brings together numerous companies and individuals who, with regular monthly donations, contribute to UNICEF's mission to ensure that every child in Serbia gets the best start in life.
"Children are family members of our employees, members of the community we work in. They are our future staff members and business leaders. New generations will shape the future of our business, as well as our private lives. The banking sector has a large indirect and direct impact on them. It is therefore our obligation to help create conditions in which every child can develop all his or her potentials, in order to build a better tomorrow for each of us.
Vojvodjanska Bank is continuously working on a large number of socially responsible projects. Each of them undoubtedly contributes to and improves the conditions in the community in which we work. Nevertheless, I want to draw particular attention to this opportunity to work together with UNICEF to invest in the development of children at an early age. I believe that this cooperation, together with the programme of support provided by the Bank to young people without parental care, will make an essential, crucial difference,” stressed Vathis.
The Friends of UNICEF Club brings together numerous companies and individuals who, with regular monthly donations, contribute to UNICEF's mission to ensure that every child in Serbia gets the best start in life. The funds raised in this way are redirected to programmes implemented by UNICEF in Serbia in the areas of early childhood development, health care, education, and social protection.
UNICEF promotes the rights and wellbeing of every child, in everything we do. Together with our partners, we work in 190 countries and territories to translate that commitment into practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded children, to the benefit of all children, everywhere.
