Belgrade, 20 December 2018 – Minister Branko Ruzic said that the strategy of decentralization will include the protection and promotion of the rights of children and young people, and stressed that he expects the professional support of UNICEF Serbia at the beginning of next year.

Minister of the Public Administration and Local Self-Government Branko Ruzic received Regina De Dominicis, UNICEF Representative in Serbia, who took over her duties as of August 2018.

Ms. De Dominicis pointed out that it is important to invest in preschool education, especially given that the individual findings say that every invested dollar returns as 13.

She added that it is important that the local governments work together so that they would have a more adequate realization of children's rights to education, especially those from vulnerable groups.

Minister Ruzic added that numerous preschool institutions expanded their capacities through the Budget Fund of the Ministry and that electronic services have been made in order to simplify the enrollment of children in kindergartens.
