Violence against children and young people is a fundamental violation of their rights. Sexual, physical and emotional violence has a devastating impact on health and happiness and prevents children and youth from contributing to societies to their full potential. Recognising the long-term national significance of this issue the Government of Rwanda conducted a survey of over 2,000 children and young people to understand the scale and nature of the problem and to enable appropriate and effective responses to be devised.
