Almost three months after the COVID-19 pandemic scare shuttered schools across the country, 26,195 class X and XII students returned to school on July 1. Students of boarding schools reported on June 30.
Neighbours and friends, Class XII students, Jamyang Choden, 18, and Dawa Dema ,19, travelled from Jabana in neighbouring district, Haa to Drugyel Central School together.
“I am happy to be back to school,” says Jamyang. “ Here at school, we can work and study on time,” adds Dawa.
Drugyel Central School has about 200 students in Class X and XII. In preparation for its reopening, the school has installed 28 handwashing tap points and 16 dispensers for drinking water. After the students reported to school, the principal held a briefing at the school's football ground.
