Highlights

As a highly dispersed island nation consisting of 1,192 small flat and low-lying coral islands, the Maldives is extremely exposed and vulnerable to climate change impacts.

The report, commissioned by UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia, examines the direct and indirect impacts of climate change on the education system; the education sector's response to climate change using seven key education systems components (i.e., policies, plans and strategies; finance; curriculum, teaching and learning; teacher capacity development; communication, coordination and partnership; school/community student participation platforms; monitoring, evaluation and accountability); and offers key recommendations to make the education system more resilient in the face of increasing climate change risks.
