Donate for Cristian and other children like him
When he was born, Cristian weighed only a bit more than a doll. He had a severe illness, which made him unable to walk: spastic quadriparesis. Cristian and Matei, his older brother, are raised by their grandmother, as the children's mother left to Italy, even before the little one had not even learned to say "mommy, I love you!".
Cristian is 4 years old now and needs physiotherapy every day. The same goes for psychological therapy. If he could go to therapy every day, Cristian will be able to walk one day.
However, in the village of Plopana, in Bacău County, where he was born and lives now, his only chance to benefit from these services is the mobile intervention team, which can come to Cristian's home only once or twice a month. His grandmother found out about the mobile team from the community nurse, whom she trusts completely.
She is the one who follows-up all the doctors' recommendations and always advises Cristian’s grandmother on how to get the services and equipment that Cristian needs so much. They were both very happy the day they saw Cristian getting on his knees for the first time, instead of crawling on his tummy, as he used to.
"He can recover, he can become a boy who is able to walk and go to school with all the other kids.", says the community nurse.
"Cristian can walk" is a dream that could become a reality, with your help. Every donation counts, to contribute to the recovery of Cristian and other children like him.
Through the UNICEF “Community Services for Children” project, community teams of a social worker, community nurse and school counselor provide children from vulnerable families with access to the medical, social and educational services they need.
