Improving the quality of antenatal care and outcomes for the foetus and newborn

Tracking pregnancy progress helps prevent complications

Highlights

Tracking pregnancy progress helps prevent complications and informs women about important steps they can take to protect their babies and ensure a healthy pregnancy (Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, 2017).

No overall picture is available of the pregnancy care provided in Romania, but only fragments of it. By providing an objective overview of the present state of antenatal care in Romania, this research is intended to respond to the needs of pregnant women, their families, decision-makers and women's healthcare providers. To this end, we have analysed the current legislative framework regulating the provision of such services and presented scenarios for ideal pregnancy care.
