Nigeria: Educating girls

Nigeria, 2014: “One day they come to school, one day not,” says teacher Lami Samuel of children who work to help support their families. “It is very difficult for them to keep up with the other children who come every day.” Gyezmo primary school, in the north-eastern Bauchi State. Nigeria’s Girls’ Education Project (GEP) – led by the Government with support from the United Kingdom’s Department of International Development and UNICEF – aims to get 1 million more girls into school by 2020.
