Young people work on an article about child trafficking at a Kabataan News Network workshop.

If   you’re a child or young person under 18, you have rights. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live or what you believe in. Your rights are protected by a UN treaty called the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This is an agreement between almost all the countries in the world, upheld by UNICEF.

Voices of youth

As a young person, you have a right to have a say in issues that affect you. At UNICEF, we organize workshops for children and young people, including photography clubs. We also run children’s conferences, such as the First South East Asian Children’s Conference. We support the Kabataan News Network, which gives children and young people the chance to write and film news stories about the issues that affect you. These are broadcast through the KNN website.

Campaign for change

At UNICEF Philippines. we work to promote and protect your across the country. We talk to people who can make a difference in children’s lives. We help ensure that your issues get covered on TV and in newspapers, so that adults can find out about what matters to children and young people. We organize campaigns, like Children against Violence, to influence the government to pass laws that protect children and their rights. You can get involved in these campaigns and take action to improve children’s lives.
