On September 26, 2009, tropical storm Ondoy (international name Ketsana) hit the Philippines with devastating force, flooding 25 per cent of Metro Manila, claiming lives, and affecting more than 24 provinces around the country.  All throughout the Philippines, approximately 1.8 million people were affected, with 600,000 individuals being relocated in around 600 evacuation centers.  Of these, almost half are children.

In a disaster like this, it is the children who suffer the most. Vulnerable to sickness and hunger, these children require urgent assistance.
