Berliner Philharmoniker Activity Highlights

2011 • November • The Berliner Philharmoniker visited Shangzhuang Zhongxin Primary School in Beijing to use their music to help highlight challenges of migrant children in China. The visit marked the first time that the Berliner Philharmoniker has ever made a UNICEF field visit during a concert tour. (Newsline)

2011 • September • Four musicians from the Berliner Philharmoniker visited the shores of the Caspian Sea in Baku, Azerbaijan, to advocate for the rights of children with disabilities. Their visit was timed to coincide with the opening of an international conference organized in part by the Government of Azerbaijan, focusing on the needs of children with disabilities. (Newsline)

2011 • May • Soloists of the Berliner Philharmoniker held two concerts in Germany in support of the earthquake-stricken Japan.  The first concert was performed at the Arp Museum in Remagen and the second at the Berliner Philharmonie.   

2010  February • The Berliner Philharmoniker, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and featuring pianist Mitsuko Uchida dedicated a concert on Saturday, 20 February to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.  The concert was broadcast live, worldwide in the Digital Concert Hall.  All proceeds from the concert and the webcast were donated to UNICEF's emergency assistance for children in Haiti. 2007 • November • In New York, the Berliner Philharmoniker performs at the United Palace Theatre in New York where they presented an education dance project based on Igor Stravinsky's 'Le sacre du printemps' (the Rite of Spring), with the participation of more than 100 New York school children. (Press Release)
