Whoopi Goldberg Activity Highlights

2012 • July • Goodwill Ambassador Whoopi Goldberg lent her name, image and quote for use by UNICEF Switzerland in their appeal for support of the elimination of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (eMTCT) during the 2012 International AIDS Conference. The appeal was published on 24 July in ten major daily newspapers in Switzerland in French, German and Italian languages, with a readership of over 2.7 million.

2010 • July • While in Vienna, Austria for the XVIII International AIDS Conference, Whoopi Goldberg filmed three video messages to support the Czech Committee for UNICEF's telethon and fundraising activities to benefit AIDS orphans.  Ms. Goldberg also autographed her photo which will be auctioned during the “Unite for Children Unite Against AIDS” campaign later this year.

2008 • November  • In New York, Ms. Goldberg filmed a PSA for the US Fund for UNICEF’s Believe in Zero campaign which is based on the premise that the number of children who die every day from preventable causes - 25,000 – should be reduced to zero.

2005 • November • In New York, Ms. Goldberg participated in the lighting of the UNICEF Snowflake, a 16-foot outdoor ornament of 12,000 Baccarat crystals at the intersection of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York City. The Snowflake was dedicated to UNICEF in 2002 as a beacon of hope, peace and compassion for vulnerable children around the world. 

2005 • October • In New York, Ms. Goldberg announced the winning poster design in an international competition that raised awareness of the impact of HIV/AIDS on children.  (Newsline)

2003 • December • In Los Angeles, Ms. Goldberg hosted the UNICEF Goodwill Gala, which celebrated 50 years of celebrity advocacy.  The Gala raised US$1.5 million for the “Audrey Hepburn All Children in School Fund.”  (Press Release)
