Boys who have been recently demobilized from armed groups, show UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Jessica Lange their drawings during a class session at BVES, in the town of Bukavu in the province of South Kivu. BVES - Bureau pour le volontariat au service de l’enfance et de la santé - is a local non-governmental organization offering shelter, health and education services to children who are abandoned, neglected or affected by conflict or HIV/AIDS. Some classes encourage the use of drawing, often on themes of war and peace, to help children express and cope with their experiences of conflict. UNICEF provides education supplies as well as other support to the centre.
