COVID-19 Vaccine Shipments to Pakistan through COVAX Facility
COVAX- Ensuring equitable access to vaccines for all
Breakdown of COVID-19 vaccines procured through COVAX in Pakistan
COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access, abbreviated as COVAX, is a worldwide initiative aimed at equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines co-led by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), GAVI the Vaccine Alliance and the key delivery partner, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). It is funded by generous donations from partner governments, foundations, and private-sector corporations.
UNICEF has helped the Government of Pakistan procure safe, effective, and affordable COVID-19 vaccines through COVAX, and ensure an efficient and effective roll-out of the vaccination campaign. Some of the doses of vaccines delivered in Pakistan were bought directly by COVAX; others were procured by donor countries through a dose-sharing mechanism.
Please note that complying with COVID-19 safety measures remains crucial to curb the spread of the virus. These include wearing a mask; remaining at least six feet away from other people; avoiding crowded places; regularly washing hands with soap for at least 20 seconds or using a sanitizer; wearing a mask; and staying home when having COVID-19 symptoms.
