Palestinian Children in Numbers

Since late September 2000 until January 2009, a total of 1,475 Palestinian children and 123 Israeli children have been killed as a result of conflict.

Between 1 January 2008 and 29 January 2009, a total of 2,372 children have been reported injured.

Poverty is increasing in oPt. In Gaza, excluding remittances and food aid, the poverty rate soars to 79 per cent.  Deep poverty in vulnerable refugee communities in the West Bank stands at 25.6 per cent. 

Unemployment in the West Bank reached 19.8 per cent  in late 2008. In small communities especially affected by the Barrier, unemployment is over 50 per cent.

Palestinian children lack nutritious food. More 10 per cent of children are stunted, up from 7.2 per cent a decade ago.
