Gbemisola's life after school
Unleash your skills, shape a brighter future.
Do you remember those moments when you realized you were good at something special? Well, that happened to me while I was growing up. I found out that I was really good at planning, thinking critically, and being flexible. Little did I know that these skills would become super important for my work life after university.
It's been two years since I finished school, and ever since then, I've been using these skills in my everyday life. At my job, I've had to deal with all kinds of unexpected situations. I remember this one Saturday when things went totally wrong just two hours before an important event. But in that moment, I had to come up with quick fixes that nobody else had thought of. My solutions saved the day, and the event went really well. Everyone applauded me for preventing a big disaster. It makes me wonder what would've happened if I didn't know how to handle that situation.
Being able to think fast and solve problems on the spot has brought me opportunities and connections I never imagined. I've faced many tough challenges that could've messed things up, but my skills have been a lifeline in this fast world we live in. Just having a university degree isn't enough because most challenges come up at work, and there's usually no manual to follow. What really makes a difference is having skills that help you tackle problems, come up with clever solutions, and make things better.
So, on this special day, World Youth Skills Day, let's remember that skills go way beyond what we learn in school. They come from real-life experiences, trying things out, and learning as we go. To all the young people out there, believe in your own skills. They can open doors to endless possibilities. Let's unleash the power of youth skills together and create a brighter future for everyone.
