Avivawak Mela, a day long Parental fair was organized in Bardibas Municipality on 8 December with support from UNICEF Nepal and Seto Gurans.

The event was attended by over 3,000 parents, caregivers and children.

The fair was a day of fun and learning, and included sharing of information about the importance of early childhood development as well as local customs and traditions related to child rearing.

Children also participated in various activities such as art, games and hand-washing.

The event saw participation from government and UNICEF officials, national and local organizations working on early childhood development, civil society and media.

The fair was organized as part of the government's parental education programme which promotes child care responsibilities by improving the knowledge, attitude and practices of parents and caregivers of children under the age of five.
