Myanmar Landmine/ERW Incidents Information

According to recent monitoring of landmine and explosive remnants of war (ERW) incidents during the first three months of 2023, a total of 302 casualties have been reported nationwide. This figure already represents 77% of the total casualties reported in 2022 (390 reported).

Breaking down the figures by region, Sagaing Region had the highest number of casualties, accounting for 36% of the total. Bago and Mandalay followed with 18% and 8% of the total, respectively. The remaining regions, including Chin, Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Magway, Mon, Rakhine, Shan, Tanintharyi and Yangon, contributed to 69% of the total casualties.

Children make up 21% of the total casualties from landmine and ERW explosions across the country. It is important to note that these figures only reflect civilian casualties.
