UNICEF and Japan working together to improve the nutrition of children in communities
UNICEF and Government of Japan working together on community-based child malnutrition treatment and prevention programmes.
With the generous support of the Government of Japan, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and its partners are working with the Government of Mozambique to set up child malnutrition treatment centers to provide crucial and urgent support to malnourished children in the northern region of Mozambique. This initiative aims not only to treat cases of malnutrition, but also to educate and empower mothers to ensure continuity of treatment and care at home.
The Nutritional Rehabilitation Programme reduces severe acute malnutrition rates in children under 5. The focus on treatment, healthy eating, and education directly within communities like Lisma’s demonstrates a commitment to a robust and resilient childhood.
