Mongolian child addressed the UNICEF Executive Board in New York

"The National Summit on Children was held in Ulaanbaatar on June 26-28. By calling this summit, Mongolia has become one of the first countries in the world to review the progress of its commitment as a follow up to the UN Special Session on Children.
The summit provided a unique venue for a truly inter-generational dialogue which produced well-defined recommendations for follow-up. As Mr. Kul C. Gautam, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF noted, “We have been so impressed with child participation in the follow-up to the UN’s Special Session on Children in Mongolia that we want you to share your experience with other countries in the world.” And, UNICEF invited a child from Mongolia to go to New York to share Mongolia’s experience with the UNICEF Executive Board which was held on June 7-11.
In the true spirit of new democracy, children themselves selected one of their colleagues to represent them in New York. They voted for T. Myagmartogtokh, Head of Gobi Altai Children’s Council and this lucky girl had a chance to address the UNICEF Executive Board. This was the very first time that a child had the opportunity to participate at the Board Session. As Mr. Kul Gautam emphasized,”This is a great honor for Mongolia, of which we can all be very proud”.
